Rising from the Ashes

(Gouache and pencil on white paper)

Under the night sky sits a girl in an empty concrete cell. Her wings were cut off and her body was thrown into a cell. Isolated, cold, and abandoned like ashes, she was torn yet not broken.

With a pen she changes her destiny.  As she paints the pair of fiery wings, her soul is empowered. The wings drawn are not confined to the geometries of the walls but is becoming a reality; they are not mere hope or chances but a solid way for escapism. She will emerge from a catastrophe strong and powerful.

Ode to rising like a Phoenix from the ashes.
